PRAC Honorary Lifetime Member 2017
On behalf of the Park Rangers Association of California (PRAC) Board of Directors we would like to congratulate you on your retirement from the National Park Service after 32 years of service. You’ve had a distinguished career, retiring as the Chief Ranger of Joshua Trees National Park and have contributed much to the park ranger profession through your work and through your advocacy with the International Ranger Federation and through the PRAC.
You have been a member of PRAC since 1980 and have served as Vice President, board member and newsletter editor. You may have also attended more PRAC conferences than any other member! We appreciate and thank you for you 36 years of involvement with our organization. I would also be remiss if I failed to mention your continued documentation of the history of the park ranger profession in California, which dates back to 1866 with the appointment of Galen Clark as the “Guardian” of Yosemite State Park.
We would also recognize your 36 plus years in the park ranger profession, where you have worked as a uniformed park professional for City of San Jose, Santa Clara County Parks, California State Parks, Army Corps of Engineers, Bureau of Reclamation and finally, the National Park Service. Few can say they have worked nearly every level of park agency in California.
Finally, Jeff, we are proud to announce that the Park Rangers Association of California Board of Directors has selected you to be our 2017 Honorary Lifetime Member!
Matt Cerkel, President
